OUR STORY
Serving Shreveport for More Than 50 Years
Galilee City Apartments has deep roots in the Shreveport community. Originally constructed in 1969 by Reverend Amos Terrell and Lakeside Baptist Church, Galilee City has served as a cornerstone of faith-based affordable housing in the Shreveport community for more than 50 years. Over the decades, Lakeside Gardens became known as a stable and supportive community that welcomed families and individuals seeking long-term housing options.

Throughout time, many of the original buildings had aged and the need for renovation became clear. In recognition of this, local leaders, housing partners, and community development organizations came together to support a major investment in the property. In late 2024, a $38.1 million redevelopment project began that would transform Galilee City Apartments while preserving its role as a cornerstone of housing in the area.

This project was made possible through a collaboration of local public and private partners united by a shared vision of preserving and enhancing affordable housing. Support from community development entities, housing corporations, local government, and financial partners reflects a shared vision to create affordable, sustainable and resilient homes for families.

Today, Galilee City continues to welcome residents from diverse backgrounds and income levels. From market-rate apartments to income qualified homes, the community blends choice and opportunity. The history of Galilee City is one of resilience, collaboration, and a dedication to providing homes where families can thrive.
